Sidewalk Counseling

"You did the best you could. The rest is in God's hands."

August 23, 2013 - 8:59pm
A recent story of a heart saved and a life spared by Cathy. It was a busy family morning when I dropped off my son at his science class and realized that the location wasn't too far from Planned Parenthood and that I had about 45 minutes. "Oh well," I thought, "I can go for a little while." I know how important Thursday's are since they often do pre-abortion ultrasounds that day at PP. So I got to the SACFL office and picked up some materials, and I headed out to the sidewalk. After about 30 minutes I encountered a lady coming out of the...Read more

"I couldn't do it! I love my Jesus!"

March 21, 2013 - 7:24pm
" All good giving and every perfect gift is from above. " James 1:17 Saturday was our day at 104 Babcock for our church in Boerne. We had about 30 church members come down to pray. It was somewhat chaotic with a counter protester and other people on the sidewalk. It appeared to be a day that would be problematic and not very fruitful. Toward the end of the afternoon, one of our church members, Cathy noticed a young woman coming back to her car once she had been inside for quite some time. She did not appear to have been post abortive, but she...Read more

"She really didn't want to get out of the car."

February 28, 2013 - 3:25pm
Names have been changed for privacy. Kathy shares: "Count it all joy, my brethren, when you meet various trials, for you know the testing of your faith produces steadfastness." James 1:2-3 Once Bible study was over, I got in my car planning to head straight to Planned Parenthood. You see, I had been going every day for this 40 Days for Life spring campaign, but for whatever reason, I missed yesterday. Just at the time that I normally would have been there, a mother chose life for her baby! I was thrilled for the sidewalk counselor who spoke to...Read more

February 21: A Life Saved

February 21, 2013 - 4:34pm
It was about 1:30 this afternoon and I just walked from down the street to the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood from buying my lunch. Finding myself discouraged by a nearly full parking lot on the day I knew the young mothers were receiving their state required pre-abortion sonogram and upset about the lies they were receiving remembering the video I just watched ( see video here ), I set my lunch down to join the other prayer warriors and sidewalk counselors to fast and pray just a bit longer. I picked up our "Pregnant? Need help?"...Read more

The Blessing of a Belated Hug

January 17, 2013 - 6:19pm
An amazing thing happened this Saturday while praying at Planned Parenthood. It was after 12:30pm and a sparse number of prayer warriors were on the sidewalk and I was one of them. I was standing in prayer directly across from the front door of the facility. I did not notice a car pull up almost in front of me until one of the sidewalk counselors began speaking to a woman who had opened the car door and instead of heading into the facility, headed toward the sidewalk. I heard her say, "I want to talk to her" as she pointed at me. I looked up...Read more

An Amazing Tuesday

July 12, 2012 - 11:35am
I'm never free on Tuesdays but it just so happened that my son was doing an all-day summer camp and I had a free day. I heard that they were doing ultrasounds at Planned Parenthood today so I made it a point to go out to the sidewalk. Already in the facility was a couple with two children who were waiting in the front area. The husband came out, and I offered information for those who were there for ultrasounds. He came over to talk to me - which I always feel is a miracle in itself. I told him about the stages of the baby's development and...Read more

What brought you to the sidewalk to pray?

April 27, 2011 - 5:46pm
I have a personal history with abortion - in many ways. Although I grew up believing that abortion was wrong, and hoped to see an end to abortion, I wasn't personally involved in working for an end to abortion. Both my husband and I prayed in our home for an end to abortion...but we never physically DID anything about it. As far as our children knowing that abortion was wrong- we never told them what it was so how could they know it was wrong? All that changed in 2003 when friends asked us to go on a pro life march in Bryan, TX. It was a...Read more

What does a Pro Life Volunteer in San Antonio look like?

March 10, 2011 - 11:35am
What does a pro life volunteer in San Antonio look like today? Well, if they're a volunteer with the San Antonio Coalition for Life they are peaceful, prayerful and law abiding. This past Tuesday, as we kicked off the Spring 40 Days for Life Campaign, we got to see first hand the peaceful, prayerful presence of over 100 SACFL volunteers compared to the yelling and clanging of drums of about 15 Planned Parenthood counter protestors. See for yourself by watching the video here: Amongst the peaceful prayerful singing...Read more
