Prayer

"You did the best you could. The rest is in God's hands."

August 23, 2013 - 8:59pm
A recent story of a heart saved and a life spared by Cathy. It was a busy family morning when I dropped off my son at his science class and realized that the location wasn't too far from Planned Parenthood and that I had about 45 minutes. "Oh well," I thought, "I can go for a little while." I know how important Thursday's are since they often do pre-abortion ultrasounds that day at PP. So I got to the SACFL office and picked up some materials, and I headed out to the sidewalk. After about 30 minutes I encountered a lady coming out of the...Read more

A Pro-Life New Year

April 2, 2013 - 9:40am
I have a confession to make. I have been working actively in the pro life movement for over a decade now and sometimes I feel like we have gotten no closer to ending abortion. Each week brings a new abortion day. To top it all off Planned Parenthood just released its annual report showing a rise in the number of abortions and an over a BILLION dollar profit for this supposed “non-profit” organization. I am tired. Isn’t it so easy to get caught up in the “I never” of life? I never get this. I never get that. Sometimes it’s too easy to walk...Read more

"I couldn't do it! I love my Jesus!"

March 21, 2013 - 7:24pm
" All good giving and every perfect gift is from above. " James 1:17 Saturday was our day at 104 Babcock for our church in Boerne. We had about 30 church members come down to pray. It was somewhat chaotic with a counter protester and other people on the sidewalk. It appeared to be a day that would be problematic and not very fruitful. Toward the end of the afternoon, one of our church members, Cathy noticed a young woman coming back to her car once she had been inside for quite some time. She did not appear to have been post abortive, but she...Read more

The Blessing of a Belated Hug

January 17, 2013 - 6:19pm
An amazing thing happened this Saturday while praying at Planned Parenthood. It was after 12:30pm and a sparse number of prayer warriors were on the sidewalk and I was one of them. I was standing in prayer directly across from the front door of the facility. I did not notice a car pull up almost in front of me until one of the sidewalk counselors began speaking to a woman who had opened the car door and instead of heading into the facility, headed toward the sidewalk. I heard her say, "I want to talk to her" as she pointed at me. I looked up...Read more

Leave It All Out on the Sidewalk!

July 26, 2012 - 4:46pm
It strikes me how often the "heart" is mentioned in scripture. One of my favorite instances of this is when Paul prays for the Ephesians about their "inner man." He says, "For this reason I bow my knees before the Father , from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man , and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith ; that you... know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled...Read more

An Amazing Tuesday

July 12, 2012 - 11:35am
I'm never free on Tuesdays but it just so happened that my son was doing an all-day summer camp and I had a free day. I heard that they were doing ultrasounds at Planned Parenthood today so I made it a point to go out to the sidewalk. Already in the facility was a couple with two children who were waiting in the front area. The husband came out, and I offered information for those who were there for ultrasounds. He came over to talk to me - which I always feel is a miracle in itself. I told him about the stages of the baby's development and...Read more

Faith Like Potatoes

June 21, 2012 - 4:55pm
I recently watched a movie called “Faith Like Potatoes” based on a true story about Angus Buchan, a Scottish farmer in Africa in the late 1970s. Though it isn’t very well done and isn’t a prolife movie, the message toward the end was quite moving for the work that we do. During the South African El Nino drought of the late nineties Angus felt called by God to plant potatoes. Now if you don't know anything about potatoes they need plenty of water, weather under 90 degrees and grow under ground. Angus’ situation in Africa was quite the opposite...Read more

Praying on the Sidewalk

June 13, 2012 - 1:21pm
Have you ever prayed outside of an abortion clinic and encountered hostile stares, rude words and negative reactions? Or have you ever prayed outside of a clinic for weeks at a time and all that happened was... nothing? No babies were saved, no pregnant women changed their minds and no clinic workers suddenly converted? Were you left wondering why your prayers didn't seem to have any visible answer? Have you ever just felt discouraged about your work as a pro-lifer? I know I have. Praying outside of abortion clinics can be scary and hard. It...Read more

The Power of Prayer

October 5, 2010 - 3:07pm
As human beings we all think that we have complete control over our lives. It's often a big surprise to find out that, in fact, God is in control. In the movie "Evan Almighty" (a highly recommended family flick!) God laughs as the main character Evan says something to the effect of "I can't do this- I have plans!". In fact, God often has plans for our lives far greater than we could ever imagine. For Abby Johnson, the ex-director of the Bryan, TX Planned Parenthood clinic, who exactly one year ago today decided to walk away from her job and...Read more
